Hercules Gate of Ephesus

Gate of Hercules structure was built a triumphal arch in late 4th century AD and turned Curetes street into a pedestrian street. The relief of the God of Strength; Heracles or Hercules on the front face of the gate was the reason the gate was called as Gate of Heracles. Reliefs are dated back to the 2nd century AD and they must have been brought there from another structure. As many believe Nike carving in Domitian Square was standing on columns of this gate. Gate used to give people an idea about the importance of Ephesus city by showing the god of power.
