theephesus.com began as a labor of love: one long, patient attempt to write down everything a visitor might want to know before standing in front of the Library of Celsus. Today it is run by Gezginol Tourism, a licensed Turkish travel agency, and written by the working guides of the 141 Journeys family.
Why trust what you read here
Every page on this site is written or checked by guides licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism — people who answer these exact questions on the marble streets of Ephesus, in person, most days of the week. When entrance arrangements change, we hear it from the gate staff, not from a press release.
We try to write the way a good guide talks: plainly, honestly, and without pretending every stone is equally thrilling. Where something is skippable, we say so. Where the popular story is a legend, we tell you it is a legend — and then we tell the legend anyway, because the legends are half the fun.
The agency behind the site
Gezginol Tourism (GEZGİNOL TURİZM VE TİCARET LİMİTED ŞİRKETİ) is a TÜRSAB-registered travel agency — registry number 15746 — based in Kuşadası, twenty minutes from the ruins. The agency runs the private tours offered on this site, from single-morning shore excursions to multi-day journeys along the Aegean coast.
This website is one of seven in the 141 Journeys family, each covering one corner of Türkiye and each written by the guides who work there. The name comes from 1 John 4:1 — for us, a travel philosophy: test everything with your own eyes, then keep what is good.
