The classic walk through Ephesus — in at the Upper Gate, downhill past the civic buildings and Curetes Street to the Library of Celsus, out past the Great Theatre — takes about two and a half unhurried hours. Add the port transfer and that is a genuine half-day: the whole essential city, without pretending you have time you do not.

The tour itself is at Ephesus Ancient City (Efes Örenyeri), Selçuk — about 30 minutes from Kuşadası and an hour from İzmir. Exact timings are confirmed in writing before your date.

This is one of the real, unglamorous reasons a guided day beats a self-guided one in high season: on a busy August morning the ticket queue alone can take longer than the walk down Curetes Street. Yes — if you are ahead of schedule and tempted, your guide adds the ticket and about 45 minutes. It is the best upgrade in the ancient world.
